Locks getting sticky - preventative...

Years ago, after reading all the problems from sticky/broken ignition switch/key issues and starting to experience some problems with ours, I ordered new keys. That solved the problem before it became dire. However, I also installed aftermarket keyless entry (with alarm), and that has prevented excessive wear from deteriorating the new set of keys, since the ignition is now their only task. Save your keys and locks and do the same, if you have a model like ours that did not have this feature.

Where did you go to get the install done?

What make and model did you go with?

While a key less system is a nice feature, isn't that like trailering your car around so your tires don't wear out? A new lock cylinder is not that big a ticket, and like anything mechanical they do (and will) wear out.

That's the same general idea... but your locks start to stick and one day they don't turn at all because one pesky tumbler pin just won't clear.

Tires, you've got plenty of warning there.

But seriously, I've seen a lot of aftermarket kits out there and they all look shoddy to me. What do you all trust as an aftermarket installation?
