Unhappy E430 DIY Replacement W210

Does anybody have experience replacing the transmission on a '99 E430? Mine has gone and it's time for a replacement.

On the DIY scale how complex is it? So far only maintenance I've done on my E430 was spark plug replacement which I would rank a 5-6 due to the difficulty of getting the plugs out safely.

Also are there any special tools needed?

Things I've hear so far from other research include
*I'll need the dipstick + MB Fluid. Fluid level is CRITICAL
*Transmission is secured by Torx bolts

My local indy shop wants approx $4,500. I've confirmed with a few other shops.

Also any good sources for a quality rebuild?

Thanks for the help!
