What should a valve job include? (m103)
Hi Guys,
I've been doing a bunch of searching on the forum and am trying to find out what a valve job generally includes (I'm going to have it done, not DIY). People on the forum have quoted that something like this usually goes for $1500 - $2000, but I'm not sure what parts are included in this quote. For example, I know that at minimum, there will be machine shop fees, valve guides, seals, gaskets for the head, front timing cover, valve cover, etc. However, does a valve job usually include a new timing chain, guides, new serpentine belt, etc? What other things might I expect to be changed? Thanks for any input and have a great week! p.s Forgot to mention that the car has over 200k miles on it! Head removal & re-install is about a 10 hour job.
Expect to pay $500-600 for parts & machine shop sublet. Hoses, antifreeze & other necessary parts will run $200 +-. If you want a new chain(good idea) add several hours & $100...
