M104 Rear Crank Seal Housing Removal
1994 C280, 207,xxx mi.
I have removed the six or so 10mm bolts in the housing holding the rear main seal. Overly careful to not cause any damage, what is the best way to get the housing off? Also, is there a gasket under the housing? If so, what is the part number. Thanks again. Michael |
Did you remove the bolts from the oil pan?
Just "glued" on with RTV. |
Thanks for the reply Doc. So, it is held on with sealant. I guess I should be a little more aggressive then getting it off.
Why do you ask me about my oil pan? Should I loosen those in order to release pressure or something? Thanks again. Michael |
Just wanted to say thanks to Doc (again) for his solid advice. Loosening the pan bolts made the housing pop right off. Thanks Doc.
