129 Wiper arm drive

The wiper on my '91 300SL tends to stick at various points in the cycle. I have been told that this is common on single wiper systems, and that I need to lube the eccentric mechanism at the base of the arm.

My problem is that I can't remove the plastic cover over the mechanism. There is a great article in the July/August issue of the Star Magazine that shows the cover removed by pulling two tabs, but there don't seem to be any such tabs on my 129.

I'll be grateful for any suggestions.
