01 W210 Gas Tank Fill

2001 E320 W210

I have searched the site and may have missed it but nothing quite fits my problem

I have tried several different gas stations with the same result. I can not put more than 18 gallons into my tank.

There appears to be no visual obstruction to the tank. Additionally, I have checked my fuel levels with the system fuel indicator(s) and I come short approx. 3 gallons for a full tank.

Historically when refueling I never try to over top off. However, several weeks ago while refueling I ran into a situation where the pump sensor at the station did not cut off and I had a over flow through the OF hose.

Any help/comments appreciated. This is a great site I am on it almost daily.

Thanks
Lee

Do you have a W210 wagon?

We just got an '02 4matic wagon. I read in the Owners Manual that it should take 21gal, but could only fit 16 or so when on empty. I think the wagon tank may have less capacity than the sedan.

Anyone know?

OK so still can not fill tank on 01 W210 E320 after eval

Still can not fill the tank, only able to get 17-18 gal.

took the vehicle to the dealer the tech inspected all the lines and tested the fuel sender all ok.

The below was stated on the invoice sheet. They said no diagnostic charge because they (dealer) did not know "if" it would work (quoted a cost of $800 +) with no guarantee

TESTED OPER OF 1.00 EVAP SYS. CHECKED FOR BULL. AND TAC CASES OPEN TAC CASE 802921.

Any comments ideas? I have tried to search for a TAC Case 802921 part number

Lee short on a fill

Me too

I have precisely the same problem with my 2001 E320. It takes no more than 17 gallons and the fuel guage only goes to about 3/4 full.

I have been offered to have the fuel sensor changed ($600.00) and the fuel filter replaced.(200.00) No one seems to know if either of these are the issue so I will not waste the money until I know what the problem is for certain.

I also have a check engine light, for the Air Mass sensor. Any chance these issues could be related?
