Factory 1995 C36 head gasket- no reinforcments
Has the Factory 1995 C36 head gasket been superceeded, by a new part number that has the metal reinforcements, so the head-gasket doen't recede over time and cause a leak ?
If so, what is that part number ? I had to try two dealers before they could understand that an E320 or C280 head-gasket is different in size than the C36 head-gasket (H WA 104 016 01 20). If not, does Elring sell one with the correct diameter and reinforcements ? BTW: the Factory 3.6 head-gasket is stamped "Elring". Thanks, :-) neil |

The last one(AMG C36) we installed (2006-07) was still the old style gasket.
I guess since the "run" on that gasket was so low they never modified it! I would imagine they only made 10K or so of them.

For reference, I replaced my M104 head gasket in 2003 with one that was reinforced around the thin-walled passages.
104 016 25 20 original 104 016 28 20 replacement (from Fastlane)
