Thanks all for your help! I bought a second hand EZL today for R 300 (+-$37). I tested it at the spare parts place and it worked wonderfully! Now I just need to get some of that heat sink paste and I'll install it tomorrow.
Oh, and my original Fuel Pump Relay works with it! Thanks again, Jase P.S. I managed to get some 'Heat Transfer Silicone' from the electronic engineers where I work...plus point of working at an electronics manufacturer... ;-) |
Ok, so I got excited too soon :( I swopped out the EZL last night. I switched on the ignition and I heard the fuel pump run to prime the jets then stop. I then tried to start the car. It started and cut straight out like before.
I tried to restart it and then the fuel pump wasn't running at all. I took out the relay and put it back in and the car started and stayed running. Switched the car off and tried to restart, and the fuel pump was dead :( So it seems the relay could be faulty? That's not all. I had to hotwire points 87 and 15 on the relay again to start the car to get to work this morning. All went well except when I tried to switch the car off. I switched it off and removed the key but the engine kept running!! I pulled the relay out to stop the car. Please help me diagnose this. I'm at my wits end... Thanks, Jason P.S. Forgot to mention the rev counter now works where it didn't before. That leads me to believe replacing the EZL was a step in the right direction at least... |
replace the fuel pump relay.it is normal when you have jumped 87&30 for the fuel pump to run all the time until you remove the jump.
