Key stuck in ignition

I am 3/4 of the way through replacing the evaporator core on my 1993 300E. I have already swaped out the evap core and have started putting back all the interior pieces. I put the ignition cylinder back in the steering column but when I attempt to remove the key it won't budge. I can move it to first, second, and third position but cannot remove the key. Is there a trick to this or will it come out when I reconnect the battery and get power back to the car? Never had any problems with the igition getting stuck before removing it for this project. Thanks for the help.
