Mercedes HELP!

I recently took on a job I thought I could handle. Removal of an A/C Evaporator from a Mercedes E420 1997. As you already know this entails removal of the dash, impact support, than a/c box. I have everything back together it's just that the steering wheel won't unlock. The ignition itself turns and starts the car but the tumbler itself dosen't want to turn. Now I can shift the car throughout it's gears. Shouldn't this be possible with safety features like pressing on the brake? I don't know this is psissing me off.

I think same person -- who knows that chicks get more attention.

Remember Ginger from a few years back? People fell all over themselves to help her.

Retracting the steering wheel lock is part of the security handshake. Try arming the alarm using the key fob and then disarming using the blade key in the drivers door; reverse the procedure if that doesnt' work.

Observe lights beneath the rear view mirror and advise if they are blinking when start is attempted and if so, whether or not they blink simutaenously or alternating.

Maybe, because you're in the position of making money off this job that you are obviously incapable of completeing you should check your attitude about the responses your begging for! How much is it worth to you to find out what you need to know? How much would you pay to access that infomation? Good luck! And good luck for the customer who is the recipient of this hack! You never know, perhaps they'll find this site also!

Look I am not trying to have an attitude but when I came on here for help and then everyone starts accusing me of being Robert who started this post. All I did was reply to the comments being made which were unnessasary. I am not making anything off this deal. Robert painted this guys car for him and he asked us to do him a favor and we did. The guy lied to us and said that he had someone to replace the evap all we needed to do was take apart the dash for him. We then got suckered into doing the whole job since he never really had anyone in the first place. So please dont jump to conclusions about something you know nothing about. I was trying to help the guy save money from going to the dealership. If you can help great and if not then please just keep you comments about what you think is going on to yourself. I have taken apart the dash in my lincoln and my old car which was a pontiac and never ran into the problems I have with this car. I need help if you can if not then thanks anyways.

The info is valuble so this guy doesnt need to pay to have his car towed to the dealership and pay $115 per hr for labor plus what ever they lie to him about and charge for.

If your seats are moving your battery is charged. If your door locks are not working the vacuum pump under the rear seat might not be receiving power. When you use the trunk lock, do you hear the vacuum?

Also, consider removing the steering wheel and tumbler and reinstalling them again. Something was apparently not put back in correctly.
