deay shifting into reverse 400E

Hey guys help. My 92 400E has a delay when I shift into reverse and I can hear a slight whistle if Im in the guarage..is there a vacume connected to this action..Thanks

92 AND 93 400E TRANNYS WERE INTENDED TO DELAY GOING INTO REVERSE.
IF THIS DELAY IS INTOLERABLE THERE IS A MOD WHEREBY A CONTROL BALL IS REMOVED AND A POP RIVIT IS INSTALLED INTO IT'S BORE(THATS RIGHT I SAID A POP RIVIT IN YOUR TRANS)
OBTAIN A COPY OF REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS #27-400 AND 27-430 FOR DETAILS

Thanks for the information Mike. I think I'll leave the pop rivet in the box and be thankful for the extra moment to be sure I'm not leaving tire marks on any unsuspecting pedestrians .

I have the whisteling in REVERSE also.
My car sometimes delays going into reverse, and it sometimes only partially engages until I push the gas, then it jerks into gear.
I asked a question on this once... and it's nothing too major I don't think.
But I am curious what that whistling sound in R is also!

Good morning David. I have the clunk if I try to use the gas before it goes into gear. No real problem to wait I guess. Take care.
