Angry I'm STILL hearing POPS!

Well after having the worn lower control arm bushings replaced, and the front flex discs, I STILL HEAR THE AGGRAVATING POPPING SOUNDS!

Is it possible that any of the 2 were not installed properly?
What ELSE could be making popping sounds?
I hear them only when I'm accelerating harder then normal, and I hear it at about 10 mph. It definitly comes from the front end, and I can feel the clunk in my feet (through vibration in floor). Otherwise, handling and everything else is wonderful. I have heard this (maybe also related to bushings and flex discs) for MONTHS now and I'm really sick of it!

I think I have ruled out transmission mounts; what about differential mounts?

Is it possible that the front flex disc may need re-torqueing? But I jsut can't visualize that needing to be done? Or is it possible that the lower control arm bushings might not be in right??

I dunno.... but I've had it with this popping sound!!!

Thanks a bunch.

(I'll probably take it back tomorrow and have them inspect the flex disc and the lower control arm bushings to rule those out.)

BTW, when checking, my mechanic said the rear flex disc was in good condition.

Did you check the transmission crossmember mounting bolts?
They like to be excessively tight.
The crossmember can shift on acceleration and make the pop you describe.

Mike,
Thanks a BUNCH for the top. Is there any way that I can check these bolts myself? When you say they like to be excessively tight, does that mean that they are usually too tight?

Thanks again.

(Nice caps off )

What he means is they need to be very tight. You can check them yourself. I think it is 19mm, 4 bolts for plate that holds transmission mount. Also check the transmission mount bolts (2) 12 or 13mm right under flex disc. Just check that they're not loose don't over tighten they strip easily.
