W123 Instrument Panel Bulbs

Ok, dumb question. I got the instrument panel out, removed all the bulbs 3W and 1.2W. However, for the smaller 1.2W bulbs (all the indicator lamps and the such), do the bulbs come out of those brown basses? I tried to remove one gently and eventually applied enough force so that bulb broke and I can no longer even remove it. Its not one whole piece is it? Surely these bulbs come out? If so, is there a trick.

As far as I know, these are changed out a a unit (brown base and all). You should be able to find them at your local parts house. If I recall correctly, even Ford cars use the same style of bulb in their dashes.
