Ultrasonic Injector Cleaning

Is this a good idea?
I've heard mixed things about getting this done.
What do people think?

I don't think it is "approved" by Mercedes or necessary.

Save your money- if you have a probem run a can of BG through it or Techron.

I think it's a great way to clean injectors. We use ultrasonic cleaning in our lab for fine cleaning and to clean out tiny crevices and gaps.

I've also borrowed our lab's untrasonic cleaner to clean my injectors in alcohol. I added a power supply to open the injectors (don't use 12v... it can fry an injector), and a tube to reverse-flush the injectors. This is the best way to clean an injector, and the only way to clean solvent-insoluble debris from an injector.

A garage I found does this, plus flow and pattern tests them.
I was planning on taking them out myself and just taking them in for them to clean them.

So you think it's a good idea? 16 year old injectors with 62,000 miles on them

By your question we can assume your having running issues.
You might want to clarify the issues your having.

Getting your injectors cleaned is a good idea.

It would be a shame to spend money to remove dirt when the problem in the first place was that hole through which the gasoline is injected is in fact not plugged but rather worn large.

Think of it as playing the percentages: There WILL be wear (with age). There MAY be dirt.

If you have doubts about injectors, I'd replace them rather than spending money (and removal/reinstall effort) to "restore" them to something that almost without question will be less than new condition.

Actually no there is nothing wrong with how it runs, I just thought it would run better if I get them ultrasonically cleaned?

I've used u.s. cleaners. They are ok for dissassembled parts. But sticking a injector in it,won't get fine stuffout. Can make it worse.Former Machinist 15 years.

I thought that the automotive injector ultrasonic cleaners would differ from normal ones?
And the injectors should be spray pattern tested before and after

Ulrtrasonic cleaners are ultrasonic cleaners. There's nothing special about "automotive injector" ultrasonic cleaners. Maybe you're talking about the solvent?

Ultrasonic cleaners are best known for getting fine stuff out. It should be used together with a reverse flush.
