2002 CLK320

Some of y'all know me from before, finally able to get back on the computer after a loong absence. Now here to ask a quick question for those who know.

Wifey has decided she wants a Benz. Has decided she really wants a CLK and has found one she wants me to look at. It is a 2002 with 158K on the clock. She says it looks good, we'll be checking it out and looking it over in about an hour. I think we'll have time to decide...so what are some of the downs of the last of the W208's?

Mike, I don't think there are any downs on this chassis.

I believe they are made from the W202 chassis.

The engine and trans are the same as used in the W210 chassis cars, and they have proven to be bulletproof: no problems with head gaskets, wiring harnesses, or throttle actuators.

Thanks Paul. How the heck have you been?

We just got back from looking at it, had maybe a half hour of fading light before going on a short tour around town. Seems like a solid car. Have made arrangements to get a second look at it tomorrow and more time behind the wheel. It does have the annoying semi-dead corners of the instrument cluster, the known ribbon strip problem. Everything else looks and works as it should.

Wifey fell in love with it when she saw it earlier today. I have to give her credit on waiting for me to give it a good looking over before doing anything. I'll try to snap a pic or two when I take it out and about tomorrow.

I was able to get another good test drive in today and brought it by the house. It runs really well, looks good and shows it has been well maintained. Looking in the coolant resevoir shows it has MB coolant not the green stuff. The brake fluid appears to have been changed in the past year as it is light tea colored. The only thing I can say it needs soon is a set of tires.

Here are a couple three shots I took of it while it was at the house.

I gave the wifey the OK if she wants to get it. She says she's thinking it over but I'm pretty sure she has made her mind up on it
