1990 190E 2.6 ABS/CEL LIGHTS
Today, while driving down the freeway my ABS light went on for a few miles, then went off and immediatly my CEL light came on, vehicle ran fine. The CEL light went off and immediatly the ABS light came on, for a few miles, then went off and immediatly the CEL light went on and stayed on. It went back and forth like this several times with both lights going on and off at times. over a 100 mile trip. I ran some errands so that the car was shut off for a few minutes and the CEL light would stay on when I restarted the car, and after a few miles the CEL light would turn off and immediatly the ABS light would go on. I have not been able to check for codes yet, but I recently had the instrument cluster out to replace a ignition switch that was intermittantly getting hot, I also serviced the battery terminals when I replaced the ignition switch [not the IGN. lock cylinder].
Could this be a OVP relay issue?? The vehicle seemed to start [hot] and run fine.
What is the proper way to check for ABS/CEL codes on a 1990 190e 2.6 california model? I understand that there is a different way to check for codes unique to the 1990 California 190E.
