Dull Thump Sound
On my '87 300E, while driving on paved but irregular rolling surfaced country roads, I hear a dull thumping sound that sounds like it may be comming from under the hood. Something like a lose shock.
Could it be that little shock absorber mounted to the engine or motor mounts? Thanks.

USUALLY THE NOISE YOU ARE DESCRIBING IS THE FRONT STRUTS. THE TENSOINER SHOCK OR THE MOTOR MOUNTS WOULD BE A NOISE ALL THE TIME - NOT JUST WHEN DRIVING

Another thought is the front sway bar bushings. A very, very common problem on the W124s. When mine went out at 75K miles, made a "thunk" when I would hit small potholes or make left turns.
