Question 1996 SL 320 mercedes

Hi!
I've got what seems to be a very unusual problem I hope someone can help me with.My right passenger side heatlight is out and needs replaced I replace the drivers side with ease but the other side is frozen in place I've tried to wiggle with a fair amount of force to no avail,I hate to go to far with it in fear of breaking the housing and having to replace the whole unit. Not sure if I can use a nuts off solvent or something like a CRC to help loosen the hold that the rubber O-ring must have on it.It's hard to imagine that this bulb could be stuck that badly. It has a plastic ring that holds it in place and that is out so it seems the O-ring is the only hold. There is a flange on the bulb that rests against the flange on the housing but again what could possibly keep it so tight .I push the back end of the bulb up,down and sideways with not perceptable movement.Any run into this before?
