replacing window regulator, need advice

'93 190E 2.6

I'm replacing a rear window regulator after it exploded one fine rainy day; I bought some genuine MB Gleitpaste and I'm wondering if I should use the Gleitpaste on the rail and sliding jaw or can I get away with using something else. I'm going to go around and lube all the window tracks so this doesn't happen again. I just have a film canister full of the Gleitpaste and would like to save it for my sunroof which has begun to slow down.
Also - do I need to position the window glass and channel in a certain way so as to get the armrest bolt back in? Thanks
