Brake Bleeding problem on 1981 380SL

I have read the threads on brake bleeding issues with the 380 sl. I have made the pressure bleeder ( works great) and set to work. Immediately I had brake fluid coming out of what appears to be a low fluid indicator switch on the top left of the reservoir. I efficiently emptied about a quart of fluid on the garage floor. I have a maintenance manual, read it and do not see any reference to this issue. I am suspecting i might have a damaged master cylinder. My problems started after replacing a stuck wheel brake cylinder, I have not been able to get it bleed properly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
