2003 E320 4matic front axle boots

Can anyone help with the method to get the front axles out and the CV joints apart for boot or bellows replacement?
I don't have the CD's or manuals to look it up and I've done these jobs on many of the Japanese vehicles so I'm wondering does it work the same?

Do the axle shafts pop out of the transmission with a pry bar like many other cars?

Any guidance is appreciated.
