rear map light on 1992 300E

Can someone tell me how to remove the plastic lens in the passenger compartment in the headliner on a 1992 300-E. It is very difficult and I do no want to damage the headliner or lens. I have a bulb out and every time I push the switch up to turn it on the warning lights to fasten my seat belts flash.

Why could they have made these car simpler to fix? I hope some one can answer my question.

Sincerely

The rear dome light is simple to remove:

On one end (originally passenger-side) there is a small notch, push a flat-blade screwdriver in that slot toward the center of the light assembly to push the clip inward, swing the same side downward and it will come out.

Rear passeger map light

Thank you for your help. I will try that today. I thought it had to be a simple solution. Looking at the lens from the side I saw some small notches and suspected that they may be for a purpose.

Thank you kindly:
