Fuel Tank Sender Unit on 1985 500SEL

How difficult is it to remove the fuel sending unit from the 500SEL? Do you have to remove the fuel tank or is it an easy-out-easy-in? Also what size wrench does it take to remove the fuel strainer?

I had mine put in last week...with 3/4 tank of gas...took them 5 minutes to take out the old one and put in the new one.
