I don't see what your question is. For your Vin number the W=Germany DB=Daimler Benz then the first 3 numbers are your chassis number 124. I don't know what the rest of the numbers are except that the last 5 numbers are usually the production number. You apparently already have the engine number, well at least the first 3 numbers. Usually it's something like 102.xxx. My '80 SD has the 617.950 diesel engine. My '83 TD has the 617.951 engine.

The VIN that you are using is a European VIN. If you are using MB EPC US it won't register. The EPC Europe will use that VIN.
I presume your problem is based opon this.

VIN
The VIN on a potential parts car I've found must be "US" as VINCHECKER can't find it. How can information be gotten on older models?
Can the year and model be detected with an older VIN? The number I need info on is 108.012-12-072108. Any help out there? |

Your car is a 250S probably a 67 model. According to: Mercedes-Benz Production Model Book 1946-1983 by Robert Nitske, there were 2844 units made in 1965, 31564 in 1966, 37866 in 1967, 2014 in 1968, and 389 units in 1969 for a total of 74,677 units. My addition makes yours at the end of 1967.
Other than those who counted, MB didn't have a direct mechanism for year model attached to their chassis number until the US system reqired it.
