Cold Air Intake for E320?

Looking at the air intake for the 95 E320 I recently purchased. It looks ridiculously long and restricted. Are their any CAI kits that are beneficial. Mostly looking for mileage increase.

I just had the filter assembly apart on my '95 and other than removing a dead mouse and applying a screen across the intake to keep other mice from living under the air filter, I can't see any room for improvement.

There are no benefits at all. Most designs will simply draw hot air in, defeating the point altogether. They should be called HAI.

My stock one looks good and cold. But I went with a K an N filter. Some intake can be hot,if not long enough. Then you have too worry about rain.I usally take a hole saw,and put a hole in the rear of filter box,in case she wants more air.

Where does the wanted air come from? The exhaust manifold is right there at the back of the filter box.
BTW, you should do some research on K&N filters and how well they work vs the stock paper filter.

Definitely avoid the reusable K&N like the plague if you are looking for good mileage. The oil on the filter media comes off and fouls your MAF resulting in lower gas mileage. I saw a drop of 2-3 mpg over a one month period. Put in a disposal filter, cleaned the MAF with CRC MAF cleaner and mileage came back immediately. Just my personal experience but it's widely posted by others.

I have K an N on all vehicles since they first came out.We have paved roads here. Oh yeah I bore a hole to side or rear for extra air, rear being warm.Anywhere where it does not suck rain.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll just keep the stock setup and keep the filter clean. Of mice and any other critters. Mine was full of leaves. PO apparently kept car in forest.
