'87 560SEL 127K, car shifts perfectly for first 8 miles, then gradually loses one gear at a time till only first gear remains. Filter change, whole transmission rebuild? Fluid does not smell burned.

I always start with checking the fluid condition and level. I have seen the filters break apart if not changed for a LONG time.
If this doesn't help, you will be in need of tranny repairs. |
