87 190E 2.3-16V Rear Axle or Diff?

I am having an issue with a felt/heard clunking sound coming from what sounds like the rear of the car. It is not all the time. It comes and goes. Most notably it is audible just as I take off and as I am getting up to highway speeds. It sounds as if it is a rotating sound and is either in the axle or the drive shaft. I put the car on the lift and felt around for play. The right axle has more play then it should and I think is most likely the culprit. I checked the flex disks, carrier bearing, driveshaft bushing, and the U-joint right behind the bushing. The front flex disc is close to needing replacement, but the rest have no excessive play.

Has anyone else had an issue like this?

If so, anyone have any good parts sources for axles or diff parts? and if anyone says adsitco, i swear I'll friggin scream.
