Infrared Remote/Key -Need help opening!

Hello all,

I have a problem with my infrared key remote for my 1996 E320. I am trying to open it up to see if I can find the problem. Does anyone know how to open it? It looks like the remote "splits" in half. I have tried to pry it apart, but it's not working. I'm afraid of damaging the case if I keep trying. Does anyone have any tips and/or experience? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have an owners manual? It is in there. There is not much you can do to it other than change the battery.

It snaps together, but because of the key and the twisting involved the halves are held together very securely

I figured out how to change the batteries. That's pretty simple. I need to actually get the complete unit apart to access the electronics. There's something else wrong with it besides the batteries.

The unit IS very secure. I cannot seem to pry it apart. It definitely comes apart somehow and you can see where it splits. There was someone on the forum before that took one apart and was able to do a repair. I can't seem to find that thread again.
