240D engine compatibility 616 912 versus 615 912
The machine shop that has my 1983 240D engine has an engine that they rebuilt that the owner never came and picked up. The guy that runs the shop says that he will let me have the engine (long block) at a minimum cost (includes cylinder head). I am going down at lunch to discuss it with him. Seems the first six numbers are 615 912 whereas the engine that came out of my car is 616 912 12 086860. I will get the rest of the numbers at lunch. He seemed to think this was an older engine. What all is involved to go to this "older" engine and will my injection pump work on it.
thanks,
