Instrument Cluster

My son picked up a 92 230CE trying to get the cluster out, can only get it partially out, something is holding it. I have removed the cluster from a 87 560SL and a 76 240D, didnt have this problem. Any ideas???
Thanks

Hahaha!

Make sure to remove the floormat and bulky carpet/insulation thing, so that you can see the metal floor of the car. You need to unhook the speedometer cable from it's clip behind the brake pedal. This gives it the slack you need to reach behind it and undo all of the connections. Be sure to label the bulb connections or you will end up mixing them up. You don't want to have to suffer the consequences of swapping the low washer fluid indicator with the low coolant indicator.

DO NOT yank on the cluster too much or you can stretch this cable. If you do, your speedometer will become lazy or wobble at speeds of 60MPH or less.
