speedometer head....

Ordered a replacement rebuilt speedometer head...140 chassis....1992....
arrived today...installed it, odometer/trip meter works, speedometer works....great I thought! After a few miles...ABS light comes on and a few miles later..the speedometer stopped working!
Ideas? A MB tech tells me that the ABS module works inconjunction with the speedometer.
ABS light was not on before now with the new speedometer installed.....and this problem....maybe the MB tech is on to something.
Thoughts? Correct fix?
And with NO decent MB techs on Guam....I'm hurting! They are parts changers here.....Guessing what the problem is.

I called the speedometer shop where we ordered the speedometer head....send it back they said....well...of course! But...something else must be a contributing factor to make it stop and I am hearing the ABS module...if bad...works in conjuction with the speedometer and....

Perhaps the vehicle speed sensor went out. Wild guess.

according to alldata left front sensor is speedo, perhaps you have a problem with abs sensor left front axle. see if reluctor wheel on axle if you have one has debris in it., any broken wires or connectors?
