89 300ce fuel pumps

my mechanic told me both fuel pumps were putting out weak pressure, the car was just recently purchased it came with 1 then i bought a new one on ebay from high flow fuel systems, the new pump is the exact same length, the fittings all the same i think it puts out 160 liters per hr, guaranteed to be equivilent to or outperforn a factory pump, does anyone know how long of a job it is to change both pumps and a filter, they look pretty easy, will i have to drain the remaining gas into a bucket,im running the tank to empty.my concern is the new fuel pump is about 2 inches wider than the stock, will it still fit in place?,and does anyone know if 2 lower ball joints and a center link on the front end is a 7 hr labor job,he wants $700.00 to replace both ball joints and the center link, any help is greatly appreciated.
