560sl idle problem need help

Hello
I am in real need of help.. I am the owner of a 1986 560sl. . I have had it worked on by a local shop, and feel that they are only throwing parts at it. So here goes what they did to it.
1) Compression test 175-160 on all cylinders.
2) replaced all wires
3) replaced cap
4) replaced rotor
5) replaced Idle control valve
6) replaced oxygen sensor
7) replaced spark plugs

The car will smooth out if you give it some gas but when your foot is off the gas peddle the car feels like it shakes a bit. The car has plenty of power, and does not hesitate, but that idle is just not right. Every once in a while I smell gas in the cabin. I have checked around my EHA regulator and that seems dry, I have also
checked the tube going to the right valve cover to see if my fuel regulator is leaking gas while under pressure
all seems normal. I am at my wits end with this car. The only thing that is not changed is the idle control unit. I do not think that is the problem due to the fact the car idles at about 750. Any ideas. Oh by the way I do use premium fuel and injector cleaner. We do not seem to have anyone around here that understands these closed systems. The car has 117,000 mi on it and is in relatively good shape. I cannot see any vaccume issues??
HELP

The most complex systems can fail in the simplest way.

Smile Problem resolved

As it turned out and going from one so called expert to another, I did find a garage that knew what they were doing. It took them 15 minutes to figure it out. That was the good news. The bad news was it was the fuel distributer ($600.00) rebuilt. If anyone needs a good MB mechanic who is fair in the Syracuse Ny area Jacobs Automotive on 2nd st.
