Help! Need to remove the dashboard of a 1998 E320

Hi all,

I'm trying to install an aftermarket antenna with a very long cable. This new antenna has a 4 inch long black sensor on one end and the antenna connector on the other end. In between is about 10 feet long cable. I want to install the sensor right behind the center rear view mirror and then route the cable along half the length of the windshield and then disappearing into the dashboard and into the aftermarket sony headunit.

In order to do this i see no other way other than removing the entire dashboard (it looks to be a single piece).

Does anyone have experience doing something like this?

I don't know whether removing the dashboard might trigger the airbag sensor. Or if there's other way of routing that antenna cable to hid it out of sight.

Much obliged for any suggestions!

Cheers!
