An oil dipstick with numbers on it, Hmmmmmm
Last month I bought an '83 300TD. The dipstick has a numbered scale on it, ranging from 0-110. I know it's not original to the car, simply because the first 3 number of the MB part number are 115. So I am assuming this came out of a 115 chassis. What I am real curious about is what do the numbers represent?

It is probably the oil level in the sump in millimeters.

I'm not sure it isn't original to the car Rick, there are a lot of parts interchanges between chasis numbers. I could be wrong though.

That is a special tool that dealers use for oil consumption tests!
I use one in my racecar to monitor oil useage. NEVER installed in any engine & costs over $35.

This dipstick has the "Star" before the part number. Right now my wife has the car at work, so I can't get the whole part number, but it does look like a MB part number. The plastic part on top is red. It is identical to the one in my '80 SD, except my SD's is an off white color.
