How easy to retrofit Comand to W210?
I have been looking for a 2000+ E55 with Nav. There are more cars with better prices without Nav. I can acquire the in-dash Comand 2.0 unit for $200. How difficult would it be to retrofit?
I am guessing all you need to do is acquire all the behind the dash mounting hardware along with the visable front (wood) hardware and simply plug the Comand unit into power and antenna. Thanks for your insight & help. Anyone want buy a E430?: www.statusimports.com/e430.html

I cannot knowledgably comment regarding the 210, but I bought my 203 prior to the comand availabilty. When I bought it, there was a factory rep in their facility who we asked about retrofitting at a later time. He contacted the factory and we were told that there were different GPS antennas and other issues involved that would make retrofit extremely difficult or impossible.
I would assume that this would apply to your car UNLESS the car was built after the date at which comand was available in the 210. Best of luck, |

Does the GPS Navigation system use the same roof mounted antenna used for the Tele-Aid system?
