1995 E320--All Lights (Low, High, Fog) Turn On at Same Time

Hi. I'm trying to sort out the last kink in the fender bender repair of my 1995 E320. This one involves lighting issues. When I turn the headlight switch to parking light position or low beam position, every exterior light activates (low beams, high beams, fog lights). This malfunction is not affected by flicking the multifunction lever or pulling the switch out 1 or 2 notches. To top things off, the lamp defective orange idiot light is illuminated on the dash.

Any ideas where to start? I was going to leave this repair to the body shop, but I think they are also in the dark (no pun intended). A wiring schematic might even be helpful.

Are they all on brightly? Or is one or more on dimly (indicating an open ground)?

I think I'd still try running a temporary ground to the brown wire, see if anything changes.

Someone else mentioned a possible fault in wiring of the headlight wipers. He stated the wiper connected to the headlamp assembly could cause this condition. Any thoughts?

I will also try the ground.

Awesome 124s in your signature by the way!!

Thanks.

I don't know if they share a common ground at the light. I'm thinking mostly of something that could have changed in your accident, thus the lost ground. Other than that, possibly the wires were pinched and insulation damaged shorting two or more circuits together.
