Testing oil pressure gauge 126

The oil pressure gauge on the 300se quit .showing zero pressure . i have grounded the wire from the sensor still shows no reading.
The oil sender unit does give a readings when the car is started so there is oil pressure .Advise on testing the gauge will be appreciated .
