Don't see "FULL LEVEL" mark on expansion tank

Hi,

I have a 1993 400 SEL and I don't see a "FULL" mark on the expansion tank. Could somebody please give me a "heads up" on this? I just picked up this about a week ago and I am try to do all the "routine maintinace" that is required.

Thank you

The full mark is generally considered the seam that goes around the perimeter, like between the upper and lower halves. May have originally had a orange or red decal denoting the full mark. Usually there is a arrow cast into the upper half of the plastic pointing (downward) at that seam.

I'm not sure when it was added. On my '98 there is a square plastic tab about 3/8" x 3/8" molded in to the tank. Standing by the side of the car and looking down it is at the 9 o'clock position. As mentioned it is at the dividing line between upper and lower halves and is used to set the level when cold.

I thought that myself because that is where it is at on my 420 sel, 300d, and 450 sl, but there are actual marks in these area's for the full level. Now, can I use the anti-freeze that says that it can be used in "all vehicles" or is there a specific product to use. Currently it looks like the "green" anti-freeze is in this car, but was put in by the previous owner.

Since it already has green stuff in it, I guess I wouldnt see the need to be too picky about it at this point. If you don't know how long it's been since a flush, that's the time to get some good stuff in it. I'd use Mercedes stuff if you can get it, or the best alternaive to MB, IMHO, is Zerex G05
