MAF Connector Removal?

I've a 2005 320 cdi w/195k miles on it. According to the code read done at Advance Auto Parts my cel and limp mode is caused by a defective MAF.

Before ordering the part I attempted to clean the contacts on the two plugs on the unit. Small plug came out well. The larger connector was accessed after removing the plastic (cosmetic) cam cover.

Exactly how do I release the connector with the plastic tabs on each end? Do I pry out or push in before pulling the connector out?

Are there any other porblems I might encounter doing an r and r on the MAF? Does it harm the car to drive hours in limp mode?

Locations fora best price on the unit? Seems as though it's unavailable here as well as at most parts suppliers. I want to stay with a MB part only.

Thanks!
