Question Do you know what this is?

I found this on the floor of my garage after I backed my E320 out last evening. Any idea what it is or where it came from?

Thanks,
Christine

That's what I thought or maybe a cellphone antenna, but I have a CrackBerry and can't even remember the last time that I had a pen in my car or garage! My main concern is that it might be something important that broke and fell off of my car.

Need a sense of scale, can you do a pic again with a coin next to it?
It doesn't look like any MB part that comes to mind.
edit: just saw it was on the GARAGE floor, I was thinking inside floor of the car. Still drawing a blank. Anything else in there that comes to mind that might be spewing parts? It has the spring so obviously could have shot a pretty good distance. Some sort of spring-loaded button. Bicycle? Another car? Garage door opener? Lawn mower? How about some sort of lawn mower part, like to adjust the wheels or remove the grass bag?

Talking MYSTERY SOLVED!

This was driving me crazy so I went out and began combing over the car from front to rear. After I popped the hood and started checking things out closely, I located what appeared to be a trigger switch for the alarm system that was missing it's plunger! I suppose this switch must have been put in prior to the installer discovering that the battery is located under the back seat because it was never wired up. lol I guess the plunger must have popped out of the switch during one of the many times that I have opened and closed the hood over the past several days. Whew! I was thinking that I had opened up a whole new can of worms for a little while!
