Replacing OVP Relay
I have ordered a new overvoltage protection relay for my 1986 420SEL and expect to have it Thursday or Friday. Is there any trick to replacing these? It looks to me like one screw and then everything is just plug and play after that. I have heard that sometimes the connection point can get corroded and that it should be cleaned and coated with thermal grease. Am I missing anything.
Thanks for the help and Merry Christmas everyone! |
It is that easy. Good luck

Thanks Benzmac. It was that easy and it was the correct fix for my problems. Thanks for the advice.

Where is the o.v.p relay on the 420?

The OVP relay is a little silver box located up against the firewall near about 8-10 inches left of the fuse box. It is silver and has a red cap on top of it with a little 10 amp red fuse in the top with a clear plastic cover over it. Once you open the hood it is really easy to find if you know what it looks like.
