Red face 1986 300E Wired Loud Squeeking From Area Under Glove Box After Start Up

Not sure what this is or if it would be connected to the rough starts and hard starts on my 86 300e. But when I start the car it starts to make a whinnying/squeeking sound then goes away after about 30 seconds.

Sometime this sound just comes back then goes away.

Most of the time I give it a firm smack under the glove box and the sound stops and dosent come back for a few days.

Other times im at a stop light looking as if i have some serious road rage and it just goes off in it's own time.

Any insight on this would be helpfull.

THANKS

In that area, the right hand side of the glove box there is the ACC cabin temperature sensor's aspirator fan/motor. It pulls cabin air across the sensor located in the front overhead light fixture by sucking it through a hose that runs across the roof and down the passenger side A-pillar to this fan.

This part can be pulled and somewhat disassembled, cleaned and lubricated which will usually restore squeal free operation, or it can be replaced with a decent tested quite bone yard transplantable part. I know it can be reached after pulling the glove box liner but it might be reachable from below also after removing the passenger side under dash panel, I'm just not certain of the latter. Good luck!
