Matching Speedometers
Are speedometers matched to transmission/diff packages? Seems like that would be the case. I wondering if I can put a 300E speedometer in my 300D.

Function of the speedo is matched to the tranny, mechanical or electric. The speedo is matched to the differential final ratio in order to maintain accuracy. A 300E speedo is likely matched to a 3.09 or something around there and a 124 300D is probably a 2.65 if I recall correctly.

You can use any 2.65:1 124 speedometer AFAIK, which inlcudes the 300D and the '94-'95 E320.
