w124 ignition switch problem

I have a frustrating problem with my 87 w124. Removed tumbler and switch housing due to dreaded key wouldn't move the tumbler syndrome. I removed the tumbler and housing and bought new items when I put the tumbler in the housing it won't move with the key so I have not installed. Any ideas on what I did wrong?

If its not properly seated in the housing it could give you that symptom. If you bought the tumbler from the dealer then it may be possible that they messed up the Vin number and you have the wrong tumbler, or someone may have changed your locks and your key doesn't match the vin.

I'm sure you've already done this, but take the tumbler out of the house and see if you can make it actuate with your key.

What new parts did you get? If you only got the tumbler you'll need to get the bezel also.
