Power seat wiring

I think I have a short in the driver's door wiring on my 300CE. When I open the driver's door and start the car the driver's seat will adjust itself to a position not stored in memory. How do I go about tracing the wiring in the door? Does the entire door panel need to be removed to gain access? Is it possible to disable the memory feature temporarily? I recall there being a memory module somewhere in the cabin.

What year car?

All of the 300CE's have a seat computer under both front seats!

Most likely you will need to remove the door panel.

It is a 1989 300CE. Have you ever seen this type of behaviour before?
