matching lock cylinder source

Is there a place to get door and trunk lock cylinders that match other than PnP? Or even matching ign and other cylinders? 82 500SEC

Dealership, most lockmiths charge more!

I may mis-remember but I thought I read (a good while ago) about an aftermarket source that had matching ign and door cylinders.

Assuming the odd one out is your ignition and the doors/trunk/glovebox are the same and factory original, the easiest method is to take you VIN (+ title + driver's license) to the dealer and they'll order one that matches your original.

Cost is around $100. It's a DIY to swap.

I have spent several hours every month for many years seeking such a source.

Zero = none...

MB has the glove-box, door and boot/trunk lock patented/copyrighted = "instant extreme" litigation against anyone reproducing them...

I recently bought a euro 82 500SEC with a key for the ign and a diff key for tha driver door. The glove box, passenger door and trunk do not use either of the keys I have.

Another solution...

There is an alternative if you do not care much about the glove box. Add keyless remote control to the car. It can be done and you can forget about all the other keys except ignition and the driver door key ( assume they are the same ).

I may do that. Probably the cheapest too. Thanks
