94 W124 odometer : drive type?
So the VDO odometer in the cabrio finally did that thing VDO's usually do.. fail.
I have been searching the forums for a good, comprehensive w124 odometer repair and nothing has shown. Plus I am not sure if the late w124 odometer is cable driven or done by a sine wave converter and what ever electronic stuff the newer cars have. help? |
Cable drive on all 124s.
Standard failure on the 124 odometer is the plastic pinion slipping off of the number-wheel shaft (driven by the worm gear). I have had excellent luck with a little epoxy applied with a needle and sliding the gear back into place, be sure not to get any epoxy on the adjacent parts of course. Sliding the gear back into place will work for about 100miles-1000miles from my experience if you don't use the epoxy. |
hmm looks like ill have to get some locktite(or is there something else) and do the repair
