Hello my friends hope you are all well.
I would like to share with you a problem with my 1994 W202 C180 Esprit with about 230 000 KM. Recently the ABS warning light just appears as soon the car starts moving at certain speed. Whoever every time I start the engine, the ABS light is off but becomes ON as the car moves forward. The speedometer is working, therefore cannot be a really valve problem. Could be a speed sensor in one of the wells? Is the vehicle got a speed sensor on the four wells? Or there is a speed sensor on the differential and the front wells? Please, any help will be highly appreciated Regards DGomes |

Sounds like a speed sensor--they watch the "teeth" go by and probably need to generate a signal to indicate system is in good working order. Could be just the wiring broken.

Hello Kchris
Thank you so much for your quick reply concerning this matter. On your message you have mentioned that “Could be just the wiring broken.” Well, recently I have changed all the springs at my home made by my personal mechanic. But the wiring seam to be ok. Whoever, I will do a close checkup on the wiring. Thanks my friend. Regards |

Was the problem there before the springs were replaced, or just after??

Hello Gilly
And many thanks for replying. There where no problem with ABS light before the spring’s replacement. It was notice few days after this (spring replacement) process. Regards |

I'd guess one of the leads for a front speed sensor was damaged or disconnected during spring replacement. The lead is part of the sensor. I would inspect the wiring very closely for the front sensors.

the issue your describing sounds like a speed sensor, also you can remove the rotor and clean all the teeth out with some good ole breaqk clean,if the speed sensor or pick ups are dirty they will trigger the abs light to come on goodluck.marc

Hello Friends,
I would like to thank you for all of your support on this issue. Since many of you suggest, we have made very closely inspection on in the front wiring speed sensors and we have found a broken wiring in the front right well. Apparently the wiring was ok. Whoever, the damage was inside of the wiring isolator. We manage to reconnect the wiring and the problem disappeared. Overall I need a right new speed sensor. Thanks again fellows and happy New Year Regards Danilo |
