w210 Highbeam problem

I just bought a 03 E320 with a highbeam problem
The highbeams come on if I pull the universal switch towards me but
When I pust it to the rear position They do not come on. The switch snaps into position but no light and the lamp on the instrument panel don't come on either
Is this a Universal switch problem or should I be looking elsewhere? if so where ?
Thanks in advance
BOB

Could be the switch, but diagnosis with MB scanner would be less than a guess.

There are 4 computers involved in turning on those lights!
